“The only reason people get lost in thought is because it’s unfamiliar territory.”
Sometimes though, the territory is far too familiar… as in it’s the same thought over and over, which in turns leads to the same feeling, the same behaviour and the same outcome. So, if you’re finding you want to change something in your life and it’s just not happening, ask yourself what do I think when I find myself in this particular situation. How does that thought make me feel? How useful is that thought? What thought would be more helpful in getting me to where I want to be?
“I’d like to help you out. Which way did you come in?”
Drawing on the support of others can be a very important step in achieving our goals. Sometimes though the best support someone can give us is to encourage us to figure it out for ourselves.
“Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian.”
Sometimes we can have irrational beliefs that get in the way of us achieving our goals. One such belief is that the world should provide us with everything we need. In reality, sometimes we don’t get what we expect or what we think we should. When this happens though it’s good to reflect on our thoughts and on our reactions. Are we playing the victim and placing blame or are we taking responsiblity and making choices that empower us?
“Never play peekaboo with a child on a long plane trip. There’s no end to the game. Finally I grabbed him by the bib and said, “Look, it’s always gonna be me!”
No words of wisdom here…I just really like this quote
